Meanwhile, the physicians still found themselves using other outdated, inefficient systems to do their clinical documentation. Skilled nursing facilities typically don’t have large IT budgets, and many require providers to document their daily progress notes on paper. These providers were submitting their charges in a few seconds, but then had to either find a workstation to use a cumbersome documentation tool, or sit down and do their work with pen and paper in order to produce a note to put on file at the facility.
The customer approached us with a simple question: can we do this in pMD? pMD was already making other parts of the group’s workflow fast and facility independent, so solving the problem of progress note generation was a natural fit. We’ve been hard at work for the last several months taking the basic clinical documentation functionality we already had and expanding it into a full fledged mobile progress note tool.
We approached this new functionality like we do with all of our new features: mobile first, and with an eye toward provider efficiency. We built it for all three of our platforms: iOS, Android, and web. I got a chance to contribute to each of these projects and I can’t wait to get this powerful mobile EHR in the hands of our providers. It will allow them to do their clinical documentation side by side with their billing, in a mobile app that’s intuitive and fast. For that reason, I couldn’t be more excited for the release of pMD’s mobile progress notes functionality.
