In a recent press release, pMD, the innovation leader in health care technology, announced that it had successfully completed its first SOC 2 and HIPAA security audit.
pMD's Senior Legal Counsel, Kate Emminger, also outlined the specifics of the SOC 2 audit in a recent blog post. This particular audit report reviewed pMD's security controls, assessing whether they are adequate to meet its HIPAA obligations, as well as the SOC 2 security criteria. Security has always been at the core of pMD. On a daily basis, the pMD team understands the privilege of handling a person's Protected Health Information.
"The audit reports not only clearly outline our security protocols," says Ms. Emminger, "but more importantly, the audit indicates a culture of security awareness. It's proof that pMD is willing to invest a great deal of time and money to ensure that our security protocols are up to par."
SOC reports provide an analysis of a service organization's internal controls so that users can better understand the risks associated with sharing sensitive information with this external organization. The audit report found that "[t]he controls stated in the description were suitably designed as of April 30, 2018 to provide reasonable assurance that pMD's service commitments and system requirements would be achieved…"
The third party audit was performed by an AICPA accredited firm that also offered valuable insight into industry best practices for security standards.
